The original idea behind the title was that by looking at finer and finer scales (of distance), one would eventually be able to observe seething first cause directly, perhaps just behind some interfering structure as here. However, there is also a resemblance to plough-lines. An additional tie-in for those in full-time education is the fact that contingency recalls them to their studies at this time of year ;-) |
